沒有經過工業設計洗禮的中國,在產品製造上保有了工匠的精神與巧藝,但西方大量生產的工業設計技術卻能讓產品在短時間內行銷全世界。因此,在2007年的秋天,浩漢設計與北京清華大學以及義大利知名設計學院Domus Academy展開了為期半年的課程。從東方哲理「空」為起點,思索西方工業設計與東方工匠技藝結合的可能。第一波公布的產品以Tableware為主,複合材質的使用以及造型上的巧思,都讓「空」這意境,在中國人最重視的「吃」這件事情上,有了新的意涵。

The word Bukong comes from "Bu" and "Kong". "Bu" means to understand. "Kong" is a common theme among Chinese philosophers. The power of nothingness resonates with the Buddhist philosophy of "form is emptiness, and emptiness is form." To further reflect such philosophy through product design, the brand "Bukong" is created. Thus, Bukong is to understand the concept of eastern philosophy "Kong." The mission is not just to design but to create pieces utilizing Chinese philosophy as well as having them to be born and bathed in this aura around the site to reach a level of intellectual enlightenment.
